Anybody out there know of an online RPG like Guild Wars in that theres no monthly fee? Particualy something Sci-Fi or modern would be good... I'm getting the AO itch again >.< Any info would be good, thanks.

Isn't AO still running their free trial thingee? You could always go back there and slum it up a little ...

As always with Funcom, theres a hitch to it: It's sans upgrades... And you can't do sqaut without Notom Wars, Alien Invasion or Shadowlands. Also, I'm kinda uneasy about rebuilding a once 204 Chosen Tier agent tweaked out for PVP o.o;

It (basically) is 3D Ragnarok, and is even made by the same people.. But right now that game has a terrible economy and bugs because hackers found a way to dupe things, and the economy went to hell

This one isnt to bad, its free to play but uses a real currency so the good stuff does cost you.

This is still in beta and will proberly cost a monthly fee when its released. It a good game. Its politics with guns. I left after the Merc leadership was overthrown, gave me to many headaches.

Take a look at Phantasy Star Online and Phantasy Star Universe. Both are pioneers in the MMORPG Instance peer based system. and both are more futuristic. Currently PSO is a pay to play system with hunter licenses, however PSU has been said they may make it similar to guildwars setup with updates to the system as upgrades every once in a while, instead of monthly charge. However, Sony is involved with them in development, and if they have their way they will charge you for just connecting to the server. so its iffy if anything will be like guildwars anytime soon...

Hmm... You know, PSU sounds good, and if Face of Mankind ends up being free (Which I HIGHLY doubt) I'll play it as well. I really hope PSU ends up being like GW. All I want is what AO had - places to explore (I'm talking crypts, dungeons..), big quests (armor quests, key quests), social interaction (hang outs), big cities with IN DOOR ENVIORMENTS >.>, and a nice and high level cap to keep me working for a nice long time. Guild Wars is great, but it loses a great deal of fun once you hit 20. Once you hit that cap it's like... Now what?
